Asda Free Bus Money taken by Wiltshire Council

Local councillor for Melksham South Jon Hubbard has reacted with fury to reports that Wiltshire council has spent the money promised to the town for the Asda shuttle bus on subsidising it's own paid for services.
"Melksham was made a promise", Cllr Jon Hubbard said, "and we have seen that promise broken by the Conservative controlled council. I sat in meetings in Melksham and Trowbridge where we were repeatedly told that one of the benefits of bringing the Asda store to Melksham would be the free shuttle bus which would make the store accessible for every resident in the Town.
"Now we discover that the money handed over by Asda for the bus has been used by Conservative controlled Wiltshire Council to subsidise providing paid for busses. We were told that we had to endure the rise in parking charges and the scrapping of our hours free parking to pay for subsidising public transport, now it seems that we must also lose the promised free bus. Again with this Conservative council, those with the least must pay to feed the demands of those with the most.
"Once again we see the true value of Conservative promises. Here today, gone tomorrow."
