Lorry Park Update for March Area Board Meeting
Published on Saturday 6th March 2010 by Jon Hubbard
I attended a meeting at County Hall recently which confirmed that we will be receiving an update from the consultants, Mouchels, on the search for a replacement location for the King Street Lorry Park at the Area Board meeting on 24th March at Bowerhill Village Hall.
I can't give details at this stage as things are still being worked out, but it does seem that we will have some good news for local residents.
I have written to the Cabinet Member responsible inviting him to attend, or send a representative, to tell local residents how the council will be responding to the consultants recommendations.
Lorry Park Victory for Local Residents
Published on Saturday 28th November 2009 by Jon Hubbard
Residents in the area surrounding King Street Lorry Park are celebrating after Wiltshire Council finally agreed that the Lorry Park is in the wrong place and commissioned a survey to find a more suitable location.
Cllr Jon Hubbard, who has been campaigning for the Lorry Park to be moved on behalf of local residents described the decision as a “common sense decision that it has taken too long to make”.
The Wiltshire Councillor for Melksham South said “I called over 9 months ago for this lorry park to close.
Public Meeting to Discuss Future of Lorry Park
Published on Sunday 17th January 2010 by Jon Hubbard
Following efforts from local councillor Jon Hubbard a public meeting has been arranged for Monday 25th January at 7pm in Melksham Town Hall to allow local residents to participate in the consultation process as the council considers how to deal with King Street Lorry Park.
Local Councillor Jon Hubbard has been leading the campaign to get the lorry park moved and following his efforts the council recently appointed consultants Mouchel to look at whether the Lorry Park should stay in King Street, be closed altogether or be moved to an alternative site in the Melksham area.
Finally, real progress on King Street Lorry Park
Published on Wednesday 4th November 2009 by Jon Hubbard
I attended a meeting at the Council today where we made real progress on the King Street Lorry Park issue.
We will be meeting again on the 24th November to review options and I am now confident that a solution to the problem will be forthcoming.
I'll report back on this when I hear more.
